Letter that discusses Political Influence of Donations to be sent to the Australian Select Committe
You have been directed to respond to the following terms of reference of the Committee’s inquiry into the political influence of donations:
a. the level of influence that political donations exert over the public policy decisions of political parties, Members of Australian Parliament and Australian Government administration;
b. the motivations and reasons why entities give donations to political parties and political candidates;
c. how to improve the integrity of political decision-making through our political donation regime and the public funding of elections; and,
d. measures government could take to strengthen the involvement of citizens and civil society organisations in public policy decisions of political parties.
Criterias:
a. Describe the political process and ideologies that underpin the political process in Australia.
b. Demonstrate an understanding of the structures, processes and relationships that lie “behind” the public face of government in Australia.
c. Describe the complex set of relationships and a range of players and their competing interests in the socio-political, cultural, and economic discourses of the times.
d. Articulate what a civil society looks like and how stable this definition is.
e. Demonstrate an understanding of such concepts as; civil society, public
good, power, elites, wealth, inequality, discourse, justice, and democracy
are explained (including how they are produced and to what effect).
f. Describe how the interconnectedness and interdependence with global
societies, politics and cultures are producing a ‘global world’ and a ‘global citizen.’
g. Position taken is well-considered and argued is supported with inclusion of an excellent variety of high-quality resources of exceptional relevance to the topic.
h. Must use 10 academic references and APA 7th for writing.
