Developmnent of USA After Civil War
After the War of Independence, the South developed very fast with the black slavery. The North became a normal European country and mainly depended on the development of technology which was widely used in production, but much slower than the southern part of the United States. People in the South lived just like the nobiemen in Europe, and they had more money, more land than any wealthy people all over the world. Even their idols, the British nobiemen who gave them the market and money didn’t enjoy a better lifetime.
I can’t imagine the life that slave owners lived, but I can conclude that it just like taking drugs so that they could not stop and could not live on without those slaves. The profits of having a slave grew while the cost of growing cotton went down. That led to the higher price of one slave than ever before. This intensified the oppression on slaves. So more and more slaves wanted to get away from their owners, that caused the deficiency of the soldier later when the War between the States broke out.
Besides, it let the North take the moral high ground.
The development of technology helped the North won the war. For example, Lincoln used the railroad to put soldiers and other things that those soldiers needed so that the army of the North can easily hit the army of the South in the southern part of the United States while the army of the South even did not have enough food to eat.
The North built over 4000 miles of railroad against the 400 miles in the South. Lincoln sent soldiers several times faster than the South, so he could hit his enemies in a sudden. Lincoln made the whole industry in the North a war machine. He found the importance of technology. He used the telegraph so that he was able to know the information from the battlefield in a few seconds. But the South never knew what happened hundreds miles away until several days after. The weakness of the North was the army needed to seize cities from the South. And Lincoln was the first man to get the public opinion.
The South had it strengths too. The soldiers knew the battlefield just like the back of hand. But it was not the most important one. The South got a good general, Robot Lee, who was seen as one of the best general at that time in the world. Also, the soldiers from the South were proud of themselves and were much stronger than soldiers from the North. But compared with the great technology,Lee could not push the war developed as he wanted.
The Civil War influenced how the United States developed in the future. Lincoln pushed for the manufacturing of the infrastructure and the using of telegraph, which was seen as the predecessor of email. He also made the train a normal thing for people to take and send things. The railroad is still playing an important role at present. The Civil War teached us that a country must be one part before it becomes strong. We should keep our own country unified so that we can develop our own sence of proud, just like the American people have nowadays. There is still one thing that the civil war influence us. The battlefield medicine changed as a lot of soldiers died after operations during the civil war.
