One article that used a survey for quantitative research methodology is “The relationship between social support and self-care behaviors in adults with chronic kidney disease: A cross-sectional survey study” by Kim et al. (2019). The study aimed to examine the relationship between social support and self-care behaviors among adults with chronic kidney disease.
Strengths of the study design include the use of a large sample size (N=248), which increases the generalizability of the findings. Additionally, the use of standardized measures for social support and self-care behaviors increases the validity and reliability of the study’s results. The study also employed multivariate regression analysis, which allowed for the examination of the relationship between social support and self-care behaviors while controlling for other variables.
Weaknesses of the study design include the cross-sectional nature of the data, which limits the ability to infer causality. Additionally, the study relied on self-report measures, which may be subject to social desirability bias and may not accurately reflect the participants’ actual behaviors.
If I were to duplicate this research with a similar population, I would make some improvements to the study design.
