Answer:
I have chosen to discuss questions 1 and 4.
- In general, being a role model for nursing practice involves demonstrating professionalism, excellent clinical skills, effective communication, and a strong commitment to ethical practice. Qualities that enable one to be an effective role model include a strong work ethic, good communication skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to lifelong learning. On the other hand, qualities that enhance the ability to role-model include continuing education, participation in professional organizations, and taking on leadership roles.
- The Purnell Model for Cultural Competence is a framework used to understand and assess cultural diversity in healthcare. It is based on 12 domains that represent the cultural influences and experiences of individuals, including their heritage, spiritual beliefs, and health practices. The model helps healthcare providers to understand the cultural background of their patients and provide culturally appropriate care. The 12 domains include heritage, communication, spiritual beliefs and practices, family structure and roles, nutrition, economics, education, health practices and beliefs, role of elders, decision-making, coping and illness, and death and dying. The Purnell Model for Cultural Competence helps to address health disparities by promoting cultural awareness and competence among healthcare providers.
