Environmental Condition

Question:

Write (and then record) a three-minute informal presentation, based on part of your research essay.

Three minutes will comprise about two double-spaced pages – so focus on a specific, interesting part of your paper and rewrite it in a more colloquial or informal tone that suits a spoken presentation.

Answer:

The article intends to analyse this question by evaluating and analysing various elements of the human nature in order to arrive at a suitable conclusion. The present environmental, technological and social factors have to be paid close attention in order to evaluate their effects on the human nature and habits. This article tries to evaluate both the sides of the conversation and tries to find out whether technological advancements are beneficial or are they affecting our analytical and cognitive skills at a certain level . The advantages and the benefits of technological advancements cannot be denied. The primary aim of these improved technologies is to make life easy, smooth and saves time to a great extent. On the other hand, it cannot be denied that technology and internet has changed the manner in which we do things and the effort we put in our work. Therefore, the write up concurs with the views proposed by the author – Google and like technologies are affecting out cognitive abilities.

The present environmental condition has forced the human mind to perceive and react to information and data much quickly. This exerts a certain amount of pressure on the manner in which human beings reach and behave . Superficially, it can be seen that the advantages of technology are overcoming its drawbacks. However, when the effects of these advancements are measured, it can be seen that it creates a behaviour pattern among humans. The capacities of the brain to inculcate information and understanding its limitations have become blurred. Another important point brought out by the author is that people belonging to a particular age group use these technological developments in different manner. This part of the article is interesting as for the first time a user classification has been done. It has been opined by the author that young people are more tech savvy and use internet to its fullest extent. On the other hand, older people are still unaware about the use of such technological developments . Young people are able to grasp information more than the older people and thus, technologies like Google are making their minds much more accustomed to information that is available instantly. This sometimes affects a person’s ability to judge the quality of information that is being accessed and used. After conducting an extensive research, it can be said that technologies like Google and other are not itself directly making people stupid. On the contrary, they are performing this in an indirect manner. Google and like technologies are supplying the tools and technologies to people that are making them more and more dependent on them . This is having a psychological effect on human minds. The human mind is gradually losing its ability to logically reason and perform some tasks on its own that it is capable of performing without any external help. This phenomenon is drastically affecting human cognition, a backward trend can be seen as far as psychological state of humans, and the structure of the society is concerned.
