The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, is a comprehensive healthcare reform legislation signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2010. The ACA aimed to increase the number of Americans with health insurance coverage, control healthcare costs, and improve the quality of care.
Literature Review: There have been numerous studies examining the effects of the ACA on various aspects of the healthcare system, including access to care, cost, and quality. In a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2016, it was found that the ACA had led to a significant increase in the number of individuals with health insurance coverage. Another study published in Health Affairs in 2017 found that the ACA had reduced the number of uninsured individuals, particularly among low-income and minority populations.
