- Life commitment and service: For Christians, life commitment refers to the devotion and dedication to living one’s life according to the teachings of Jesus. Service refers to putting one’s faith into action by helping others and serving one’s community.
- Social and political action: Christians may be involved in social and political activism, advocating for issues such as poverty, oppression, and social justice. This can involve participating in marches, rallies, and voting, as well as supporting organizations that work to address these issues.
- Poor, oppressed and at-risk populations: Christians may be involved in efforts to support and assist people who are struggling, including those who are poor, oppressed, or at risk. This can involve volunteering, donating money, or advocating for policies that address these issues.
- Discrimination, racism, prejudice: Christians may work to address discrimination, racism, and prejudice, which can take many forms and can be both overt and covert. This can involve speaking out against discriminatory practices, supporting organizations that work to address these issues, and promoting cultural competence and diversity.
- Cultural competence and diversity training: Cultural competence refers to the ability to understand, appreciate, and effectively interact with people from different cultural backgrounds. Diversity training is designed to increase awareness and understanding of different cultures, as well as to reduce prejudice and discrimination.
- Lifestyles and values that are different from oneself: Christians may be exposed to lifestyles and values that are different from their own, and they may be called upon to show respect and understanding towards people who have different beliefs and practices. This can involve learning about other cultures, participating in intercultural activities, and treating others with kindness and compassion.
