I need information on Native American and incarceration rates
Native Americans have consistently been incarcerated at higher rates compared to other ethnic groups in the United States. In recent years, the incarceration rate for Native Americans has ranged from 2 to 3 times the national average. This disparity is often attributed to a number of factors, including poverty, lack of access to education and job opportunities, and systemic discrimination within the criminal justice system. Additionally, the over-representation of Native Americans in the criminal justice system is often linked to historical trauma, such as the forced removal of Native American communities from their ancestral lands and the boarding school era, where Native American children were taken from their families and forced to assimilate into European-American culture.
