Walmart Employee Moral Analysis
Need help with my Writing question – I’m studying for my class.
This week’s materials reflects the various issues with Walmart from 3-5 years ago. Seek out new information around these topics.
Select one of the various topics in the the materials (employee wages, Walton family wealth, employee moral, employee uniform purchases, etc).
Complete a short write up (2-4 paragraphs) discussing the issue, what (if anything) has been done to resolve the issue, and your opinion as to whether or not you feel things have improved with the issue and why.
Answer:
One of the issues discussed in the materials is employee wages at Walmart. In 2015, Walmart announced a pay increase for their employees, with a minimum wage of $9 per hour. However, this was criticized as still being too low, considering the company’s revenue and the high cost of living in many areas where Walmart operates.
Since then, Walmart has continued to increase its minimum wage, with a current minimum of $11 per hour. Additionally, the company has implemented a program to help employees advance and earn higher wages through training and development opportunities.
In my opinion, while it is good to see Walmart taking steps to improve employee wages, there is still more that can be done. A minimum wage of $11 per hour is still below the living wage in many areas, and many Walmart employees continue to struggle to make ends meet. Walmart is one of the largest companies in the world and has a responsibility to ensure that its employees are paid fairly and can support themselves and their families. I believe that Walmart should continue to increase its minimum wage and provide additional benefits to support its employees.
